Accessibility Guest Information

MACq 01 Hotel is steeped in Tasmanian stories, and we aim to ensure that all guests have an equitable and dignified experience of our hotel and those stories. MACq 01 was designed with equal access as a primary focus, closely following visual impairment and hearing aid specifications, from the lift chimes to floor textures and braille buttons. All communal spaces within the hotel are wheelchair accessible, and there are six accessible rooms and suites available to be booked. The team is educated on accessibility requirements and PEEP (personal emergency evacuation plans), and an evacuation chair is always ready to safely evacuate guests who may require assistance.

MACq 01 strives to break down the barriers to enjoying all that Hobart’s waterfront has to offer, and our dedicated guest services team is always eager to hear from you with any queries or suggestions you may have. We’re committed to continuously improving in this space, as it’s imperative to us that all can share Tasmania’s stories.

Storytelling Tours

Our storytellers are devoted to infusing Tasmanian tales into every guest’s stay, and they are absolute specialists in tailoring their tours to make individuals’ experiences as unique as our storytellers themselves and the characters in their stories.

From discovering guests’ connections to stories, indulging curious areas of interest, and offering small guided tours for people who may have sensory requirements, be hard of hearing, or have low vision, our team loves to deliver a highly personalised experience.

From priority position for lipreading guests to paper or tablet-based copies of key tour points, or lending an elbow to guests with low vision, our storytellers take care to adapt to individual access needs.

All of our tours follow sealed pathways and incorporate ramps for those using wheelchairs, scooters and prams etc.

If you have an access requirement for our Storytelling tours, please contact our friendly team to tailor a personalised experience.
